“Discover simple steps to setting up a WordPress blog today and how to use this simple platform to create smokin’hot PR campaign!”

Ready to bring your best content into the world and let people know your thoughts, but have no idea how to download, install and set up WordPress?

Want to use your WordPress Blog as your main hub to promote your book, product, coaching and engage into conversations with your potential clients? How can you set a blog for your “PUBLIC RELATIONS”  Campaign?

Today in my training lesson I want to show you how you can easily set it up and it is more simple than some trainer try to make it look like…

As you know WordPress is the hottest marketing platform for online marketers and not just a place where they keep their diary of thoughts.

Here are the essential steps to setting up a WordPress blog:

1. Get a hosting account..

I use Hostmonster and I also recommend HostGator. It does not matter which one but the one that fits your needs and budget. I pay 10 bucks a month and I love Hostmonster.

2. WordPress Installing

Log in into control panel. You will see WP symbol and click – set up WP blog.

3. Domain

Choose a domain where you want to host your blog.

If it is primary domain then just add blog after dot.com.  If you want to use a brand new domain and keep the primary domain for your business or main site, then you need to add it as Addon domain.. (for questions best call technical support and they can show you exactly as well)

4. Log in

After you download your WordPress, you will be able to log in with your default password and username. Make sure change the password, so you can easy remember.

5. Theme

Go to Appearance and choose Theme..

There are many free themes but I personally use Newspaper theme and also working on setting up Thesis theme for my other business blog. If you want to use specific themes for different purposes check around and choose what best suits your needs.

I like Thesis theme and I am currently working on a new blog with Thesis theme. It takes time but it is perfect for an online marketer

I also recommend Templatic themes if you are in the consulting business and they have variety of other themes as well.

6. Settings

Go to Settings

In section General add description of what you do,  your information about you and your blog. In permalinks use customized version /%postname%/

In reading make sure to set the page you want people to see. Since you are brand new, leave the way it is for now.

7. Blog pages

Make sure you  have About You Page. Add video and bio.. Transcribe your video and create a real story! People love real people. Make it professional but with a personal touch!

Then, you can add pages that share information about services, coaching, your products or just cool information for your readers.

8. Widgets

Add widgets in Appearance section of your blog

You can add text widgets, links, categories, rss feeds, search bar and drag the error to the side of the blog where you want your readers to see it. It will help you to set a newsletter up with TEXT widget and copy Aweber code to create an opt-in form.

9. Pluggins

Make sure add these top WordPress pluggins to simplify the WordPress Perfomance

  • Akismet to prevent spam
  • All in one SEO pack for SEO
  • Facebook Like Button
  • Social Bookmarks
  • Retweet me button

That will be enough for you for now and we will continue in the next WordPress blog lesson. The next lesson will be on creating your first blog post and then on how to optimize your blog.

Have a great day!
