An inspirational lesson on overcoming adversity….(excerpts from my upcoming book “My Russian America”

When it comes to overcoming advertisities I wanted to share the excerpts from my upcoming book: Tatyana Gann: My Russian America I hope it can inspire you, encourage you to follow your intuition, passions, and do what you feel best for you first.

It was spring cool afternoon when my life changed. Little did I know that 3 months later I will be stepping my foot on the american land and meet people who will impact my life, my decisions and my passions and I will rediscover who I would become.

That cool spring april afternoon was a regular day in my life, spending time with my grandparents in their brownstone but I got a call from a professor telling me to get dressed and be on campus in 2 hours. I had to take a test to come to US. I was given a chance… I had to take a risk unprepared, not knowing what to expect. I took leap of faith and got in my little trolley and arrived to the college campus in Ufa, Russia. I was not even 19 yet. I think about the courage, belief I had in myself and belief in the future that I did not see, and I could see myself being in America speaking English, speaking, traveling. That was a HUGE dream and honestly strong belief that I would be here. I expected only YES from test results and expected nothing less. May be I called myself crazy but it was true. It was me. I was young naive but had a strong will and determination.

I will fast forward and three months later boeing 767 landed in NYC JFK airport and I am with two suitcases was going thru customs and first words I heard “Welcome to America” For some people it is nothing, but for me it was special. I had no money, only 200 bucks borrowed from my family, a torn platform sandals, which were new before I left for US until one man stepped on them on the escalator and I was too tired to get mad and to respond. I might have had no money, no good shoes, 200 bucks hidden in my bra and no clue where I was going, and whom I will become. All I knew I was proud of what I achieved- I came to USA to study and make my family proud of me. I was not good in English.. I could write, read, had pretty good grammar knowledge and some skills but I was scared to speak with Americans. I had fears that I had to overcome. I did. Eventually. I would call my mom on weekends where the phone rate to RUssia was one dollar per minute, thank Goodness, we do not that any more and I would complain about my English that I was like a dog could understand but could not talk. My mom would calm down and say “YOU made it so far, do not be afraid, just read more and learn to love writing” I said i was not a writer and do not plan to become one. Very little I knew that I had writing genes in me that I was able to discover much later in my life in US.

I learned to trust strangers, I learned to love people who loved me for who I was, I went from being a shy ugly duckling to a strong swan, a strong woman who learned the main principles of success: be crazy, believe in what to come, learn to cry, learn to trust, take leap of faith and jump high! Life and business success is not about skills set or talents we possess but how truly we believe in ourselves, our determination to connect with the right people and have gratitude… ”

This weekend we all celerbrated amazing holiday I learned to love. Thanksgiving Day… What a wonderful day to express gratitude and truly be thankful for everything in our life: good, bad and ugly. Every experience enriches your life…Every moment you have now will take you closer to your dreams. Stop dreaming but start living your dreams… Believe me it takes courage to overcome fears and uncertainty in life. Nobody can predict your life journey. Only you can create magic in your life because you have decided so! You are the magician of your life!

7 Ways How to Create Publicity For Your Business During Holiday Season

I cannot believe the Holiday season is here and I wish you to have the most memorable holiday season! I am very grateful for the opportunity to become an entrepreneur and share my knowledge with you. I am a street smart. I learn a lot of things on my own even though I have a degree in English and foreign language but my passion for writing allowed to discover new things about myself and how I can serve others to fullfil my purpose. I am very grateful for my family and we all wish you an amazing and magic holiday experience!

With Christmas season approaching stores are offering black friday deals and all pre-holiday specials to get you in the door. But what about you? What have you done to create a success for your internet business that you love so much? We always think that only big chains, big names can afford to offer great deals and make it look fancy and attractive but believe me if you are building YOUR BRAND INC., you must have it in your arsenal. When everybody thinks they cannot do you must do it.

Here are some simple ways to make you stand out in the crowd and perfect time to show the world who you are and why they need to be a part of your circle. Let me show you the fun ways to attract customers during holiday season and increase your personal sales.

1. Trends, News
Check google trends, msn news and even black friday websites and see what people are looking and what is so hot that people have to have during holidays. You know that everyone wants to have something that others do have and it is becoming a race but good news for you is that you can use that as leverage and create you the name during the season when other marketers think that people do not look. People look more than ever and it is a fact.
For example, if you see someone is looking for a camera to buy and see what hot cameras are use that in your ads and show your buyers how they can get that camera with your help which means offering them a way to earn extra income. see what people want and complain too to get attention!

2. Write Press Releases.
When it comes to press releases I think they are the best PR tool. Do not confuse PR with press releases. PR stands for public relations and it includes press releases as a tool to generate buyers. Talk about promotions, holiday specials your company or personally you plan to have. Start writing today and announce that special give-a-way event or do something like 12 days of christmas. Create theme around your business or product.

3. Host Your Own Black Friday sale
Lets call it Virtual Black Sunday or Saturday, whatever you think makes you happy!
Send people to your sales page instead of lead page and give them that product for less price. Example if you sell even affiliate product with full resale rights you can low the price and offer that for less than everyone else and then ask them to sign up for updates when they get email from you to say THANK YOU!

4. Create Promotional Holiday Videos
Make it fun and easy to watch with a theme about your products and how they are related to hot products that are sold online. Always have connection with something that people WANT. It could be toys, electronics. People fight for them and you show them how you can solve that problem by showing them how to create income to purchase them without going to the stores at 5 am in the morning.

5. Holiday Blog Advice
Give holiday tips on how to save money, make money, fun family stuff… It does not have to business related but it is fun and gives you more exposure. Best business owners connect with other business owners and contribute to their blog with tips because they know it can help both parties and you look good as a Santa helper and they have content on the blog.

6. Book your events for 2010
If you love speaking, connect with local business owners now till december 31 to book speaking engagement on how to create income or how to improve their business with the marketing methods you know well and show them how they can use your help in the new year. Announce about your webinar, teleclass and even make press release.

7. Give, Give, Give
Give away a free class that you usually charge for on a certain date. Sell your products and services and announce that percentage will go to a charity or special holiday programs for kids as an example. be creative! Become Santa for one day.. Make it fun and have even a virtual christmas party. Send invitations and ask for referals that would be rewarded.

It will allow you to plant seeds in december for the upcoming year. Do not slow down because others think nobody cares. They do and people buy more than ever in holiday season but they also are looking for deals to save money and even add extra cash to pay the holiday shopping bills.

Featured Story: Rachael Moyte On How to Stay True to Your Values…

Today I have a special guest on my blog , an amazing girl I met on Twitter, Rachael Moyte. SHe is funny, authentic and has a great heart. I wanted to feature her today on my blog and to show appreciation for what she does.
I asked her to write a little bit about herself and she wrote back.

“Hello everyone and thank you for stopping by. My name is Rachael Moyte from Burbank, CA and I’m here to tell you my story. Not the kind of story where I talk about where I grew up, what schools I went to or what I planned to do for college. I’ll save those kinds of stories for those of you who I get to know outside of this blog. I’m here to tell you about who I am and what I stand for and just how I plan to change the world.

Like many young twenty somethings in Los Angeles, I used to have absolutely NO clue what I wanted to do with my life. I hardly knew what I was going to cook for dinner, let alone what I wanted my life to look like five, ten or even twenty years from now. I knew I liked to write, I liked to paint and I got really high off of helping other people. Now, how could I put those three ingredients into a pot and cook myself up a life that I could be proud of? “Hi, my name is Rachael Moyte and I’m with a company called…,” I said. (Since I ended up leaving this company, I’ll keep quiet about which one it was for now). Everyone said their hello’s and we got to the main activity of the event. I have to say that with as shy as I was, I met a lot of great people… one person in particular was Casey Eberhart. I’ll explain why Casey was so cool in just a second. The event ended and I left with a small stack of business cards of people to call the next day. I was definitely not in my comfort zone at the event, but it was a great learning experience and taught me a lot of valuable lessons.

Let’s fast forward to March of 2009. After two months of very little success with my unsaid company and a lot of frustration, I decided to pursue another company. Now, I know what you’re thinking… “How can you expect great results after two months?” and the truth is, I couldn’t expect that. The problem was not the company that I had chosen, the problem was that I didn’t have any passion for the products that I was selling. Yes, the company’s products were awesome and went above and beyond what their labels said they would do. My problem was that I was not a health and wellness person (there’s a clue!) and didn’t have a zest for it. I believe in being healthy and all of that, however, this company just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Remember my friend, Casey? Well, over the previous couple of months since we’d met, he had showed me his business with a company called SendOutCards. He showed me what a Gift Account was and allowed me to send four physical greeting cards for free. Let’s just say I used up my four cards within a day and I was actually bummed when I ran out. So, at first, I thought about how SendOutCards could help and maybe revamp my other business. I signed up with the Entrepreneur account immediately because even though I wanted to try and build my other business, I couldn’t help but try my hand with SendOutCards. As it turns out, I left my other business completely for SOC.

I’m proud of my decision to leave my other business because I truly believe that it takes more than just a love of a product to be successful in network marketing. I believe that it takes a fiery passion and a love for the people, the leadership and community and yes, even the compensation plan. Let’s be honest, none of us are here to do business for free. I believe that SendOutCards has given me a platform to be creative in how I present myself to potential clients and business partners as well as a platform to practice my writing and create my own art on greeting cards. Since the basis of my business is making other peoples’ days, I feel that I found a way to mix all of my passions together. Remember that pot of ingredients I was talking about earlier?

It’s now October of 2009 and while it has only been a few short months since making my initial decision, I can honestly say that I’m so glad I did. I have found true leadership in our industry, met some great people from all walks of life and many varying companies, had the chance to see first hand what to do and, more importantly, what NOT to do when it comes to prospecting and I’ve developed a new respect for myself. I’ve learned lessons that no business school could teach me (unless we’re talking about Robert Kiyosaki’s “The Business School for People Who Like Helping People”) and decided that the path of “going to school and getting a good job” is just simply not the path for me.

I’m not going to sit here and say that the last few months have been a walk in the park. Sometimes we have to learn lessons that aren’t easy to learn, like how to believe in ourselves. Sometimes that lesson alone is the hardest one to learn above all else because if we don’t have belief in ourselves, then we don’t have a whole lot to work with. I believe that before anyone in any business can be successful, we must acquire the belief that we are unstoppable. No matter how many times we fail, we will always succeed IF we keep going after our dreams.

I started reading a book recently called “Now, Discover Your Strengths” by Marcus Buckingham and I have already found so much value in its pages (thanks, Mom). Because of this book, I’ve started working on building my strengths instead of trying to fix my weaknesses. By building on my strengths, one of which is writing, I’ve been able to find positivity it subjects that I was looking at from a negative point of view.

In the network marketing industry, we are bombarded with “Free this, ground floor pre-launch that, make a million dollars in six minutes” type advertising and it’s easy to forget that, if you’re in a network marketing business, it is just that, a BUSINESS! It’s easy to think that because we didn’t get that giant check in our first week, we’re doing something wrong or we’re failures. None of us are failures because every business that we start will take time and effort to build.

I’ve decided to focus on building my business and my strengths simultaneously through changing people’s perspectives about themselves. Because of the business I chose, I can tell my friends, family and clients how much I appreciate them and how much they mean to me. We have a saying in our company that says “Appreciation will win out over self promotion every single time” and that’s exactly what I plan to do. Because of appreciation and love, my world and the worlds of every person I come in contact with will change. I hope you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read today and hope to get to know all of you. Remember that your journey is unique just like you. Stay empowered, my friends.

Let’s take a journey back in time to January of 2009. I had signed up to attend a networking event in my city and was hoping and praying that I wouldn’t show up and make a fool of myself. I had just been introduced to my first network marketing company in December and wanted to make it work. I wanted to be passionate about it and I wanted the folks I met at this event to see my passion. When I walked through the door of the Lamplighter restaurant in Van Nuys, I was met by a couple of really nice folks from my group. I had gotten there early and over the next half hour, our group grew into about twenty people. As we all introduced ourselves and gave a little bio of what we did and which company we represented, whether it was network marketing or another type of business, I felt my nerves start to tense up as my name was called. I stood up and tried my best to not let anyone see how nervous I was, but I’m sure it was written all over my face.

What did Barbara Corcoran teach me at Shine event about failures…

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”- Thomas Edison…

I learned that failure is a good thing and it is a good word. It is something we must be proud of and rewarded for… you must be thinking how can you be rewarded for failure. Common!!! Really, you should.. When people fail it shows that they courage to accept it and not deny it. That failure is a temporary state of our being and it is only two steps from the victory. She shared something really cool with us. She said that she had more failures in business and only one business succeeded and made her Barbara Corcoran , the real estate expert. Barbara Corcoran is witty, savvy, funny and very authentic. She never accepted NO in her life for an answer. She took negative feedback as a challenge and never allowed people to distract her from knowing who she truly was! Her mother was an inspiration to her who planted a seed that she had IMAGINATION. Barbara learned that failure can be good for us and that when we build business we must reward people for failure especially when we know they tried their best. There is a difference between a real looser or a person who is dedicated to do what it takes to make it work. Failure does not mean we are not smart. It only means that we have got a new chance to make it right. Failure makes us champions if we believe that we deserve to be successful and stay away from negative people

I remember when I was a professional dancer, and nobody saw how many times I twisted my ankles, sweated in the dance studio, drilling one move 100 times and finally made the perfect performance. Our success is like a dance. It takes 5 minutes to perform but it takes 100 failures and hours of work to make it look magic. The magic here is not the final result. The magic is in failure. The same applies to our business. It takes some people years to make millions overnight, and we get perception that we can do that the same way. Failure is well accepted in my house. It is not TABU word. My kids learned to laugh about failure and we use humor to deal with pressure of the failure.

I realized that failure is ok. It forms who we become. It opens our inner door and reveals to the world that perfection is only perception and that failure is not a defeat but a victory. When we fail we know that we will become aware of our next steps. It shows people that successful people are not perfect. Without failure we will not be able to be who we are today. We must honor feelings of accomplishment when we do things right.

I want to conclude this post with quote about failure from Corita Kent.
Love the moment. Flowers grow out of dark moments. Therefore, each moment is vital. It affects the whole. Life is a succession of such moments and to live each, is to succeed.

7 Proven Press Release Strategies To Reach Hot Buyers!

When it comes to writing press releases you must research your market and you do need to write for buyers if you want to create sales for your business. I have heard mixed reviews if your press release can create sales for your business. I even spoke with few PR service company professionals because for me it has a great tool to reach media and target audience that was researching my online business. Well, be honest it depends. Strategies for writing press releases depend on what you want to achieve with it. For some people it is a tool to announce event to media but for online business owners, press releases can be a very unique marketing strategy and when it is done properly it can be very effective. It is all about knowing your target market-your buyers! You need real buyers and not curious folks. You want to find buyers who are ready to get the wallet out and buy what you have to offer.

As David Scott, PR strategist says in his book “The New Rules of Marketing and PR”, “Learn your buyers persona and implementing a news release strategy to reach buyers directly is like publising an online newsservice- you are providing buyers with the information they need in order to find your organization online and then learn more about”

Here are tips how to write press release for your buyers.

1. Do not wait to make a special announcement!

Many business owners from what I have seen online, wait for that big event in their company or their career and they think they have nothing worthy to share with the world. Honestly they are wrong! When I started in my first online business I had prospects calling me and funny part that press release even had some syntax and grammar errors. (I give an excuse for not being a native speaker)

You can write about many things and target your market that is looking for your offer. No, it is not cheesy. They really do!
You can write press releases about awards, company local, regional events, products announcements, benefits of the products that created particular results, personal achievements and much more. I recommend at least two press releases a month to be consistent in you presence.

2. Niche is your GOLDMINE

Research your field, your targeted market. I recommend to use Wordtracker niche research tool to understand specific market and it gives wonderful step by step training to show you how to tap into your buyers market. There are many other tools to use such as Micro Niche Finder and just using simple things as Google Trends.

3. Make it a news story

It must be writen as if you are telling news to your friends or collegues who are looking for a particual product, item or even service. Write in their language what they want to hear and you are going to be a happy camper.
Of course make it professional but easy to comprehend. Speak their language!

4. Set up Social media profiles

Add your your YouTube chanel link, your social media sites such as your Facebook page, your Twitter profile and LinkedIn sites. At least have one or two profiles so people can find you easily too.
It will give you more exposure and also shows you have an online presence and that you are a real person to do a business with. You do not need to worry abotu the fact that you are not a “guru” yet. I honestly do not believe in guru theory for one reason- each of us has a skill or talent that we possess and it may not be a marketing skill but something else and we can be successful in that niche if we connect with the right people. Just show people who you are. Transparency is the key in today online presence. Plus it will allow your viewers to spread the word about you if you have these tools. Add you press releases to digg.com or or propeller.com and then share on social networking sites as twitter or facebook.

5. Add your press release to your blog

You can post it as article post and add link to category “Recent Press Releases”. Then submit to PR distribution companies and your potential customers can find you. I did not know that before and when I started doing that recently I noticed better results in my marketing methods. Google News for example has geographical distribution and if you want to target local market, press releases are excellent way. Create one Press release for your blog, one for paid services, then submit same press release to free services once it gets indexed by google. Make sure use different headline and reword your press release so it does not become duplicate.

6. Links

Make sure you include links in your press release post. One must be right in the beggining of Press Release. It can be a link to a landing page or a blog so you do not lose your hot buyers. The second link is in the bio section or company profile. Make sure it also contains keyword you want to target.

6. Try Social Media Press Release.
I recently discovered it and I found a social media press release template Todd Defren that I am eager to try to use to create a new press release. You can get a template at Todd Defren website
It allows your customers to find you easier and get access to your information much faster. It is an awesome tool to use.
