Blogging Basics Part 2: How to build audience that reads your blog

First day of your blog life. You made it look nice and clean. Made your first post, then you jotted down something for the second blog post. Silence. No traffic. You are waiting. You made another post. You wonder why nobody is reading and commenting. You get discouraged, but here you should STOP. Remember, that you may not have people reading your blog posts right away. You need to find what what your audience wants to know, to learn and find them solutions through sites as Twitter, Facebook and even make a Youtube video asking questions, discussing things, creating hot debates and excitment. That is when you will get ATTENTION.

I recommend to take notes of what people are asking and wanting to know. It may sound like a lot of work now, but later you will see a trend or a pattern of the most asked questions, and you know what people want. Update your blog posts or add new things creating Part 1, Part 2 and etc. It creates curiousity, and people come back!

I love to give advice on Twitter or Facebook on a certain matter and present them with article, blog post or even video. Be You. Create separate lead page for each topic or niche you want to target and then send them to your site and even blog page. Create a special event, host a class, an online party. I love what Sandy Grason does for example. She does virtual coctail parties, and it creates an amazing excitement. I even planned to make a virtual chocolate cake and bring to her party. It is fun and may sound silly, but guess what, it is OK!

Tip: Regurarly update your blog. Google just LOVES it. They will give you good rankings because their cute algorithms work that way.

I post at least 3 times a week! You want your audience to get used to your schedule, and they will expect them on certain days. Make sure write good content not just something to fill some empty space on your blog. Do your research! Write from your heart because people will see it and be attracted to your blog.

Remember blog is your front door. All ideas are awesome. All information is good. Express your thoughts, give reviews and be polite! People are watching you and be professional.

Tip: Use Twitter as your teaser blog platform then lead people to your blog post or a video blog post.

Here are 8 ways to get traffic to your blog:

1. Use Twitter: Link to your twitter posts that had reference of your blog post and link back to your blog.
2. Use YouTube to make videos and add them to your blog post
3. Talk about your blogs on Facebook by sharing links or adding into conversation that are only related to the topic.
4. Share it with your friends that are not a part of your business. Create viral effect. Ask them to forward to their friends. Write about fun topic that your friends love to know about. It will get them involved slowly in what you do.
5. Put your blog link in the signature file in the forums and messages boards you visit. Make it sound unique!
6. Submit your blog to social bookmarking sites such as Digg, Technoratti, Stumbleupon and more.
7. Use permalinks correctly.
8. Make sure leave comments on other people blogs that are highly ranked or have a lot of action.
Do not jump in and start spamming about your stuff. Be a good spy. See what these professionals want to know, what their interests are and discuss related topics with them. Make THEM pay attention to YOU by asking questions, complimenting and participating. Rules do not charge. It is all about your customer first.
As they say we reap what we sow.

When you search for keywords you need to search for buyers keywords. Example, do not use “weight loss” as your keyword. If you were a person who wanted to loose weight, you would not type this keyword. Not specific. Well, you need to find more targeted keyword. You may search for keywords like “natural weight loss methods”, “homepathic weight loss methods”, then it may take you to phrases like “ephedra free diet pills” and so on. As you can see from weight loss that has millions of listings you will get only 12,800 results with “ephedra free diet pills” You have more targeted keywords and they are called “buyer keywords”

Another tip: Set up google alerts and twitter alerts. I just found http://www.Tweetbeep.com and it is similar to Gooogle alerts. Why? You will get notified when people search certain keywords and even your name.

In order to get more traffic and get your blog optimized, you can get Jeff Johnson blogging software or add SEO plugins to have your blog post crawled by web spiders. Just a small tip.

Blogging Basics 101: 13 lucky steps to get started

Lets talk today about Blogging. Blogging is becoming so popular nowdays and everyone shares their life, products, business information but some people just do not know how to blog right and make their blogs look like ads..that scream “Buy ME NOW”

The purpose of my marketing blog is to inform, to educate and connect people with you to help them to make a decision about the product, service, business or any other purchase.
Blogs are like websites. Some are personal and some are business only. I have both. You must have various blogs. Google loves different blogs. It must niche specific. You can link them with each other to create more exposure.

One of my blogs is about High Income Careers and the second one is personal/educational blog which you are reading now.

I want to discuss what you need to get it started. Blogs are easy to set up. You do not need to have design skills and HTML knowledge to get your blog.

Here are 13 steps you need to make to get started:

1. Your Niche/Name. Think about name of your blog and tagline. It will be indexed by search engines and this is the first thing you need to do.
2. Blogging Platform: Find easy blogging platform such wordpress or blogger. I recommend Blogger. Why? The best solution is to get blogs hosted with Hostmonster.com or HostGator.com
3. Your URL: You will need to choose url or you can map it to your company or organization. Like mine for example

Or you can choose domain like I did for my blog: http://www.attractionmarketingqueen.net
4. Theme: You can choose your theme or design to make it attractive to viewers and easy to manage
I recommend UniqueBlogDesign.com, WordPressdirect.com and StudioPress.com
5. Comments: very important. In the backoffice of your platform make sure you allow people to leave comments. I would leave it based on your approval to prevent spam posts.

Comment Tip: sometimes allowing comments where people do not agree withyou is the best thing to show public that your blog is well read.

6. Trackback feature. I wondered before what it was and what I learned that they are similar to comments. They are messages that other bloggers leave and that are related to your posts and then references are made about your blogs and linked to your posts. You need to approve trackbacks as well.
7. Categories: Very important to choose right categories. You could choose niche categories or make it generic.
8. Good social bookmarking is a must! I use Bookmarking Pluggins for my blog that is already added to my wordpress platform.
9. RSS feature ( Really Simple Syndication) . Make sure ping your RSS feeds to http://www.pingomatic.com
or other pinging services to be crawled by search engines.
10. Your Pages. Make sure you got About Me page. It is your YOU INC presense. Include photo, videos and your bio.
11. Beautify your blog. Add links to your Twitter, Facebook profile pages, your personal pages, your YouTube Profile and more. I add to everything I have. Why? Well. People want to find you and they need as much as they can learn about you. You can get a lot of social media widgets added and it is easy to nagivate.
12. FeedBlitz: Use FeedBlits.com to get email subscriptions to your blog and use FeedBurner to get RSS subscription
13. Tags : We call them keywords or tags. I recommend to use WordTracker paid version and WebCEO.com paid version of keyword research software.

How To Get The Most Out of Your Social Networking Sites

If you look at all the websites such as Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Twitter they are getting more and more traffic every day. Social networking sites gained a lot of credibility in the past 2 years and corporations such as Dell, Home Depot, and even celebrities as Kathy Ireland, Ellen Show, Today Show and Oprah! They finally get it! They use it as their Public Relations tool and it does work! They use social networking sites to build audience, increase traffic to their sites and gain popularity.

Now lets talk about how to build your audience with sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Myspace. I will share few tips to help you to understand how to do it the right way without hurting our credibility.

Before you open your page on Facebook, Twitter or Myspace, remember people hate advertising. They want to get to know YOU and want interaction with you. I want to share very simple things you must remember.

How to get the most out of social networking sites:

1. Target specific audience. Research your niche, your group of professionals you want to connect.
Use tools such as WebCEO.com for keyword research and find niche forums and invite people to follow you on Twitter in your signature file. Connect with them and slowly bring them into your circle of friends.

2. Be a super thought leader- give value by sharing your education, knowledge, your thoughts about certain matters. As my mentor Dani Johnson told me “Underpromise but overdeliver” Then people would say WOW and follow you and be loyal to YOU.

3. Be authentic. Be yourself. Do not be something you are not. You will pay later. Smile to people. My recent blog post “The Power of Smile When YOU Tweet” became very popular because of being authentic.

4. Include a lot of links to your blogs, links to your Hubpages, your newsletters, your Twitter page, your articles, your videos. Let people to find you just on the blog!

5. Encourage people to contact you via forms, links that are included on your blog, private messages on Facebook, Twitter or Myspace. Give them a good reason to connect with you. Make a good impression!

6. Participate: groups and online discussions. Create events, invite people to attend them. Give complimentary newsletter and do giveaways and create viral effect by letting them share your information via Retweet feature on Twitter as example.

7. Make it easy for people to find you using keyword phrases in your discusssions, your twitter posts and etc. I recommend to use Google Alert services and new TweetBeep, similar to google alerts but for Twitter only.

8. Have fun! If you do not have fun using these sites, just do not do it. No point to do that if you have no passion. Check Gary Vee and Tony Robbins on Twitter. They are rock stars of social media. They talk with passion and you could feel it via their posts.

9. Engage into conversations, it is not blant advertising. It is about connecting with the right niche, presenting the right message and providing solutions for your audience.

Social networking is about PEOPLE. Help them to get what they crave. Have Fun. Smile. Enjoy it!

My GPS doesn’t work… What now?

Saturdays are special for my husband and myself. We love to go on date. It is a our tradition to keep our marriage alive even after 15 years together, and a very funny and a weird thing happened to us on Saturday. We got LOST! We felt like teenagers driving around Nashville Green Hills area. We love this beautiful area in Nashville TN because of Belle Meade Plantation and Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Estates. It has an amazing ambience and many cool trendy spots to eat, shop, art and book stores which we love.

Well, as they say great things happen when we stop looking and when feel like giving up . Basicly we do not attach ourselves to the situation and release our claws. Hah. I love the word “claws” Sounds scary, isn’t it?

Well we got lost. We took the wrong street because we wanted to avoid the traffic and standing at the traffic light for hour. Well we took a different route and we found it to be quite an amazing journey. We loved the neighbourhood, architecture of the homes and we passed the Belle Meade area with A- List residential communities, well taken lawns and beautiful gardens. I felt like I were in the movie. In addition to everything my navigation system on my phone did not work, and I said to myself ” Just forget it” and I decided to enjoy adventure of unknown and living in the moment. We found new places to see and to visit and we had an amazing time! We recharged our life battery and had something to talk about and how amazing it was to get lost and then find something new we did not know about and also learn about each other more- our adventurous soul and our sense of humor.

Let me ask you this. How often we get stuck in our business life? How often do we follow only one straight line without learning new creative ways of building our business and learning more about ourselves. We follow the rules that everyone wants us to follow and be a member of a cookie cutter society. Let me tell you that more you learn about YOU the more you can build YOU Inc.

Remember one thing, that life requires changes and new challenges to keep us alive and keep us going. It is about LIFE and not existing. Sometimes we get lost in the rules and we do not see a bigger picture of what our life could be. Once you are lost you can find a new path in life. Your best navigation system in your business is not all the gadgets and tools, marketing courses and expensive events but YOUR Intuition. Your intuition is a part of you. It is already there. You do not need to borrow it. I remember on the call with David and Kristin Morelli “Everything is Energy” when they launched 40days and 40 night program she talked about Intuition, and how much we needed to use it and listen to it.

My tip for you: Turn off all of the outside GPS gadgets and follow your inner voice, your intuition. It knows you and you need to learn about it.. It is waiting for you be used for higher good!

The Importance Of Smile in Social Media: Do You Smile When You Tweet?

I wanted to start with a beautiful quote about a smile, “Always remember to be happy because you never know who’s falling in love with your smile. ~Author Unknown”

When it comes to social media it is important to know our attitude. We cannot be fake. It is a big TABU. We must be authentic and the best way to start tweeting or connecting with people on Facebook is to SMILE in the mirrow and then start typing, tweeting or whatever you want. You cannot be grouchy on Twitter or Facebook and expect people follow you. People can feel your energy. Your writing, your interaction with people reflects your mood you are in. Learn to smile and love yourself unconditionally.

. My advice when you write to someone on twitter or facebook, smile. They do not see it but they feel it. Smile allows you to develop existing relationships on facebook and make new friends on Twitter. Smile is a secret weapon that can melt the most cold hearts and build bridges. Make sure your avatar has your smily face.. It is priceless!

Marketing Lesson About Being Authentic from Russian Winnie the Pooh

I was watching classic a Russian cartoon about Winnie the Pooh on YouTube last night, and until now of course never noticed how much this cartoon could teach me about life, business and mindset.  It took me years to discover the true beauty of this powerful message in that little 10 min segments you will see. Very simple and fun for children, it became very simple and fun for me to understand. I wanted to share with you this cartoon. It has English subtitles so you can read in English it at least. Very funny, so be ready to laugh. Humor is amazing!

 

Well, what did you think about the cartoon? As you saw, he talks about honey and bees. He says “I think I got the wrong bees and they will bring me wrong honey” He did that after he tried to mask who he truly was and disguise himself as a cloud or hide under balloons. Does it sound familiar? How often do we hide under a mask? How often we want our prospects to see something which is not true and pretend to be something else. When realize we failed in our marketing, we blame prospects for being slow, unresponsive and bad quality. In the end Winnie the Pooh says to Piglet , ” I think they are wrong bees, and it will be the wrong honey” Funny, hah. It is our common mistake when it comes to personal branding and being authentic in the business world. If we learn to be REAL right from the start, we will never get into the wrong bees and never get the wrong honey.
I thought it was a pretty clever thing he said and very classic. It made me laugh and made me think. You never know what you can learn from children books and movies.

Power of Press Releases: How To Market Your Business and Find Real Buyers.

Not long ago I made a blog post about how to market your business with press releases because I saw that not many online business owners take an advantage of a press release. They think that press releases marketing is DEAD.  Let me assure you that they are very wrong. Press release advertising is the classic method of gaining more credibility and providing information directly to buyers… It is the BEST way to reach buyers directly. If you have a big ticket program, it is a great way to establish credibility in front of your clients.

Here are some points you need to remember about press release marketing:

1. Press Releases are not DEAD

2. You donot have to pay fortune to submit your press releases  to major media companies.  In early 90s people had to pay big bucks to media companies, so they can distribute their press releases to general public. The Web broke many rules in our favor.  You can pay 40-200 dollars to get major exposure via companies like PRWeb, News Wire and more.

3. If you want to know what to write, find blogs of well known PR professionals and see what they write about and what hot topics are, leave comments and interact with PR pros. 

For example, today I visited blog of PR Pro Danny Brown with Press Release PR.  I left comments on his blog but I also found what he loves to write about and what kind of personality he has. I am building relationships with PR professionals online without leaving my house. Then you can send your press releases about something they like to read and write about. Bingo! You have a new relationship and your business is getting a special attention.

4. If you want to find hot topics to write about your product and service, find blogs that talk about  them and have good ranking and a lot of interaction on the blogs, comments, posts. See the key phrases they use and use them in your PRs.

5. Press Release is very important form of marketing for a small guy in business. It is A MUST. David Scott says ” If you are smaller and less fortunate, you must tell your story yourself” People want to know about YOU, your unique qualities, your story and not your company and some generic mambo-jumbo.

I have written many press releases in the past 4 years and some of them gained a lot of traffic and some did not.  Some only had 100 visitors and some reached 4 million hits in one year.   As you can see nothing is perfect, but the good thing about press releases you can edit them and change them around or even write a new one. I used few PR companies and a few of them were even free. My recent press release was about my partnership with CarbonCopy Pro, a high income career opportunity. and I did not talk about just company. I talked about event in my life, a partnership and benefits of this business.  That is the purpose of a good press release- tell story to involve your prospect into sales process.  Press releases reach niche markets and appeal to customers because of a personal touch and sharing a story about a small business owner rather just a big corporate account.

In summary, you must remember that any news is good news for your customer.  Do not worry about what you write , write about everything that is happening in your business. Even little details make a difference.  Write keyword rich content for your press release to get more exposure.  Include links within your press release and then in your bio. Make sure they are landing pages and not sales/info page about your business. Submit your press releases to Digg, Technorati and share with your friends on Twitter and Facebook. Give your customers a reason to buy from you by showing how to go from point A to point B in their career and life and why they should be a part of what you have. Provide a real food, meat and potatoes to your starving customers.

Thought about adding audio to your Web site yet? You should. While great copy does a good job of selling your services and products, audio will amplify the effect of your words.

I love doing slick videos too, but audios are so easy and quick!

Audio gives you a personal connection with your Web visitors. Social psychologists tell us that humans are more likely to trust you if they can both see you and hear you. And prospects are more likely to buy from those whom they feel they know, like, and trust.

So let’s think about how you can build that instant rapport with your prospects (AND boost your subscribers and sales to boot)!

What Could YOU Do With Audio?

There are unlimited possibilities of what can be done with audio on Web sites and in e-mail, but here are seven simple ideas to get you started.

1. Greet Your Website Visitors. Welcome visitors to your Web site with your own voice. It’s a much warmer welcome than text alone.

IMPORTANT: Don’t just say “welcome” (yawn). Drive them to taking action, like signing up for your free ezine or special report.

2. Create an Audio Class or a Series of Audio Lessons. Audio learning is still hot! Teach your audience via your voice instead of just words on the page. Think about developing a series of mini-audio lessons for your prospects.

3. Share Your Interviews. If you don’t have an interview clip already, ask a friend or colleague to conduct a short, dynamic interview with you via phone. Record it and post it at your Web site. Or, do a series of interviews with other experts in your field and post them at your site to be listened to.

4. Samples of Teleseminars. Want more signups for your free and/or paid teleseminars? Then start recording them. Pull out the highlights and post free clips of them at your Web site. (I’m in the process of doing this myself.)

5. Pump Up Your Testimonials. You probably already have customer testimonials on your site. Now amplify their impact with audio. Have your customers record their testimonials in their own voices, and post them on your site along with their names and photos.

6. Make Your E-mails and E-zines Talk. Liven up your e-mails by making them talk to your prospects, subscribers, and customers. The members on your lists will feel like you are right there with them. (And remember, it will be that personal connection that encourages people to hire you or buy your products.) Be the first in your industry to do this, and watch your numbers rise!

7. Audio Postcards. Reach out to your best customers and prospects for holidays, birthdays, or other special occasions by sending them an e-mail “postcard” accompanied with a personally recorded message.

So What’s the EASIEST Way to Post Audio?

In the past, adding audio to your site wasn’t that easy. You had to either spend hours learning how to do it yourself, or pay someone else to record it and host it for you. That’s why I was never interested in audio before.

Here’s the good news: There’s a program we use that makes recording and posting audio ridiculously easy. It’s called Audio Acrobat.

Here’s an example of how easy it is: Say you want to add an audio greeting to your site this afternoon. Just call Audio Acrobat’s toll-free hot line and record your message. Then, as soon as you hang up the phone, go log into their site. Ta da … your message is ready and waiting, with a line of HTML code for you to copy and paste on your home page.

That’s it!

Even better, you can do this an unlimited number of times and have unlimited clips on your site (or multiple sites). You can also upload digital audio files up to a few hours in length, which I do now for all my teleseminars. This way people don’t have to download any MP3 files — they just click and listen right from the web page.
