Book PR 101: Simple Publicity and Book Promotion Strategies…(true story…)

I wanted to share an exciting  story about  our client Jessica.   Jessica and I have been working together for over a year. She has written a book “Tweet This! Twitter For Business”.  In her book
Tweet This! Twitter for Business” by Jessica Miller Merrell reveals the truth about using Twitter in under 30 minutes a day. The concept for this book came to Jessica Miller – Merrell while being on maternity leave.  Her goal was to create a unique and easy – to – read resource for small and mid size businesses. She is an awesome mompreneur and I would love for you to meet her on Twitter at @blogging4jobs. She is currently writing for Fortune Leadership and I am very honored to be a part of her amazing journey!

I was very very pleased with the fact that our team has worked on many cool topics with Jessica: from social media discrimination to women in business and of course doing some PR for her book.  Just few days ago, I had a voice telling me inside to send her book review to few book critics and book editors that I have on my list.  Well…. To make our story short I sent a press release to few editors today and within an hour I got few responses. Two editors and columnists from the major publications wanted to do a book review and talk about her book! Yay!
Fun Right?  I know many authors spent thousands of dollars on book PR and might have sold few books or did not create a solid PR plan what they can do with a book.. In my opinion the book is a great ice breaker to get speaking engagements, interviews and more authority. You must get your book in the book stores and it takes time!
Here are simple rules for Book PR 101: Publicity and Promotion Strategies

1. Research book review editors who write on the topics you write.
2. Research columnists in your niche who are open to write reviews.
3, Make sure they have a good reputation and considered thought leaders
4. Ask them for their pitch/story guidelines and watch what their readers comments the most.
